  • HOLIDAYS: Annual Leave + Bank Holidays + December Off (Fully Paid)
  • CONTRACT: Full Time, Permanent

Major objectives

We are looking for a commercial lawyer to join our team and be responsible for advising the business on legal and regulatory matters, including in particular:

  • Employment law
  • Commercial contracts
  • Disputes and debt recovery
  • Data protection
  • Regulatory and industry requirements for businesses

The role will involve working closely with the management team (including General Director, Finance Director and HR lead) in our Paris office, and reporting to the Director of Legal Services.  They will be expected to travel intermittently, (2 or 3 times a year) to the UK, covid restrictions permitting.  With growth projected to emulate the UK side of the business, the expectation is that the person will ultimately be responsible for recruiting and managing their own team.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create an organizational approach towards legal matters within our Paris branch
  • Guard organization against legal risks.
  • Assist managers to develop compliance guidelines and controls.
  • Execute necessary precautions and measures with a specific end goal to shield the organization from any legal risks.
  • Develop strategies to ensure proper implementation of organisational measures.
  • Prepare and audit legal reports and other supporting legal documentation.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings. For example – managerial boards, court preliminaries and so forth.
  • Assist with the coordination and negotiation of business transactions.
  • Draft agreements and regulate deals in an organized fashion.
  • Advise corporate officers and employees on legal matters.
  • Provide extreme confidentiality in all company-related issues.

Personal Attributes

The role will require a pro-active, practical, and problem-solving approach to matters, a willingness to understand the energy and energy procurement industries, and the ability to build strong relationships and distil complex technical legal issues into sensible commercial advice.

In addition:

  • Fluent / Native level English Language
  • Qualified to Practice Law in France
  • 10 Years’ post qualification experience
  • Preferably experience in a similar position
