  • SALARY: Up to £20,000, DOE + BONUS
  • HOURS: Monday – Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm (Flexibility Required)
  • LOCATION: Baltic Place, HQ (Gateshead)
  • HOLIDAYS: Annual Leave + Bank Holidays + December Off (Fully Paid)
  • CONTRACT: Full Time, Permanent

Northern Gas and Power are the UK’s largest energy consultancy with operations in Gateshead, Newcastle and Leeds (UK), Paris and Malta (Europe), Texas (US) and Chennai (India). We will employ 1,000 heads by the end of the year and project a Total Contract Value of £112m+ across the group.

Managing energy assets for over 20,000 clients globally, we currently contract over 30TWhs of energy – more than the entire annual consumption of Ireland.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

We all come to work to make money and get paid!

The Payroll Assistant will process our payroll accurately and efficiently. You will create and maintain employee payroll information to ensure people are paid correct and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing our payroll
  • Data entry (attention to detail is a must)
  • Maintaining our payroll processing system and records by gathering, calculating, and inputting data
  • Calculating employee take-home pay-based information from our inhouse CRM system
  • Answering colleague questions about wages, deductions, tax codes
  • Working with other departments to ensure any changes are processed correctly
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies with payroll records
  • Completes payroll reports for record-keeping purposes and for managerial review

  • Good understand of current pay and payroll laws
  • Work experience in a payroll role
  • Sage 50 Experience is essential
  • Experience is company pension accounts
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Organised with excellent time-management skills
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors
  • Able to prioritize and multitask effectively
