The opportunity

As our Paralegal, you will support the Legal Team by performing a variety of legal, administrative, and case-handling tasks that require knowledge of the law, including legal documents, practices, and procedures. You will work side by side with solicitors in the Legal Team and collaborate closely with colleagues in the Compliance Team.

What exactly will you do?

  • Preparing a variety of legal documents under guidance of solicitors and company management, including contracts, letters, case summaries and claim documents.
  • Providing litigation support, assisting in collecting and compiling evidence, cataloguing information provided, preparing documents and witness statements, maintaining communications with involved parties and tracking cases.
  • Assisting with customer complaints, working with the business’ compliance team and preparing responses to customers, the Energy Ombudsman and third parties.
  • Maintaining regular communication with the business, helping to keep it informed of matter progress.
  • Undertaking legal research, reading case law and preparing updates to the team.
  • Organising and archiving files and supporting documents.
  • Ensuring compliance with contracts, regulations and company operating policies and procedures.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience as a paralegal, legal assistant/secretary or administrative assistant is essential
  • Law degree and/or other legal qualification
  • Preferably have experience in a commercial law firm or in an in-house legal department as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal.
