What is the job about?

Key Account Managers (KAM) are responsible for the management of complex and/or large multi-site customers. A far more personal service than those who work within Customer Service, KAMs are expected to have a full understanding of their clients’ portfolios and are able to assist with many enquiries including site lists, billing validation, debt consolidation and technical support around metering issues.

What exactly will you do?

The role holder will complete general Customer Service functions within the team, speaking with customers, suppliers and numerous other stakeholders including third party partners to identify and implement improvements in all aspects of our support for clients.

The role will contribute to achieving strategically important outcomes for the business by contributing to the delivery of a bespoke service for those customers who spend significant amounts of money on their energy. Some examples of what you will do include:

  • Working with customers to maintain their portfolio of energy contracts
  • Ensuring that CCL/VAT queries and amendments are completed in a timely manner
  • Checking customer invoices to confirm that billing amounts are correct and advising customers accordingly to ensure that all debts are cleared

You’ll also have the following responsibilities:

  • Complete management services for any customer within the portfolio of energy contracts managed by Northern Gas and Power
  • Provide advice and support to clients who require any additional support including energy management services
  • Perform root cause investigation into metering and billing issues experienced by our customers including providing viable solutions

What we’re looking for

  • Timely resolution to any queries forwarded to KAMs
  • Proactively manage accounts to identify potential issues, such as debt on their accounts, early to prevent supply/legal issues in the future
  • Contribute towards efficiency savings within the business through the identification of new sites or energy management services
  • Analyse complex data such as energy invoices and ‘Half Hourly’ reports to identify patterns and trends and ensure accurate billing
  • Evaluate information from multiple sources relating to complex metering issues to identify improvement opportunities
  • Able to prioritise multiple issues with multiple Key Accounts to achieve suitable solutions conflicting requirements/priorities across business areas and stakeholders
  • Sound analytical skills, capable of clearly identifying and solving problems proactively
  • Articulate with effective communication, written, interpersonal and presentation skills to be able to present clearly to various audiences as required
  • Highly organised, structured and pragmatic and, where needed, flexible in approach to ensure deadlines are achieved
  • Able to monitor progress against targets and provide updates as necessary to manage expectations
  • Extensive experience of working with all Microsoft packages, particularly MS Excel
