About the role


  • SALARY: £65,000 – £75,000 DOE + Car Allowance + 20% Annual Bonus
  • HOURS: Monday – Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm (flexibility required)
  • LOCATION: Baltic Place, Gateshead
  • HOLIDAYS: 23 days annual leave + bank holidays + December off (fully paid)
  • CONTRACT: Full-time, permanent

Global Procurement Group (GPG) is an international energy specialist spanning three continents and operating in five markets. The Group currently has operations in Gateshead, Newcastle, and Leeds (UK), Paris and Malta (Europe), Texas (US) and Chennai (India).

The GPG portfolio consists of energy consultancies Northern Gas and Power (NGP), NGP Americas and Energies France. There are also online energy price comparison sites and EnergieSupermarche.Fr, serving the UK and French SME and microbusiness markets respectively. Finally, GPG is also the parent company of Energy Management technology brands, ClearVUE Systems and NGP Websmart.

This is an exciting time for GPG. Following our successful ventures in the energy and technology markets, the Group has experienced rapid growth. We are ready to release exciting, new technology propositions to the UK market, and with our ambitious plans to continue our expansion, the Group is embarking on a transformational change journey.

The Group is on track to employ over 1,000 colleagues by the end of the year and is looking for a Global Brand & Marketing Director (GBMD) to develop our Marketing department with a view to assist in brand development and other initiatives to achieve our goals.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

The GBMD will be key in identifying and implementing the brand and strategic image for GPG and its subsidiaries. GPG has experienced continued and rapid growth across multiple continents and is looking for a GBMD who can analyse and improve brand positioning whilst translating key brand elements into go-to-market initiatives.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Shape and communicate the GPG vision and mission across all subsidiary brands
  • Lead and manage a team, taking an engaged approach
  • Identify development areas within the brand and provide solutions
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of the global marketing strategy, including product go-to-market plans
  • Work with key stakeholders to support the GPG vision and strategy
  • Ensure each brand within the GPG portfolio has a clear brand identity and mission
  • Implement and report on key measurable metrics within the marketing function
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop a brand strategy and employee brand proposition (EVP)
  • Ensure the brand strategy resonates with all target audiences
  • Establish and increase target market share of voice
  • Oversee the GPG digital image within the market
  • Provide market analysis and trend recognition to ensure brand relevance
  • Manage & analyse all M.I to drive ROI and performance
  • Network, develop and manage key partners to enhance GPG vision & strategy

The right candidate will be able to demonstrate a passion for all aspects of marketing and company branding and must be able to transfer skills and enthusiasm to the rest of the marketing department in order to support the continued growth and market share of all GPG subsidiary brands.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for their art and strive to continually learn about ever-changing market trends and emerging new routes to market to ensure each GPG subsidiary is the market leader in their respective fields.

  • A minimum of 5 years marketing experience at a senior level, ideally in a B2B environment
  • Digital media planning and campaign execution
  • Expert in social media/programmatic and PPC/SEO
  • Multi-channel campaign planning and media purchasing
  • Extensive understanding in relation to employee value propositions
  • Expert in brand reputation management and public relations
  • Crisis communications (internal and external)
  • Expert in negotiations and communicating at all levels
  • Experience in leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to enhance brand reputation
  • Managing budgets and driving ROI
  • Managing and leading a team to deliver high quality outcomes
  • Successful proven track record on performance outcomes
  • Experience at conducting extensive market research and gaining brand positioning insights
  • Experience in creating, implementing, and managing multi-channel marketing strategies
  • Building and developing great working relationships both internally and externally
