Global Procurement Group:
Global Procurement Group (GPG) is an international group of companies specialising in energy services and technologies transforming business energy behaviour towards a low-carbon economy. The group recently posted revenues of £67m for 2020, with our latest accounts detailing growth at 40% p.a. from 2017-2020.
GPG continues to expand rapidly, with operations in Gateshead, Newcastle and Leeds (UK), Paris and Malta (Europe), Texas (US) and Chennai (India). GPG will employ 1,000 heads by the end of the year. We project a Total Contract Value of £112m+ in 2021 across the group.
The UK trading arm, Northern Gas and Power, are the UK’s largest energy consultancy. Managing energy assets for over 20,000 clients globally, we currently contract over 30TWhs of energy – more than the entire annual consumption of Ireland.

Your Role:
To maintain and extend our robust financial growth, GPG are looking for a talented Financial Analyst. This role is critical with respect to providing analytically focused Financial and Business information to stakeholders within the company. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to accessibly bridge the gap between financial analysis through data science and analytics expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quickly develop a thorough understanding of the business and its energy propositions to the market
  • Manipulate large datasets to provide compelling, value added outputs and explain to stakeholders
  • Develop static and interactive data visualisations to communicate business insights with clarity
  • Build visualisations and supporting analysis of historical trading, quality of earnings, working capital, cash flow, etc.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate requirements, timelines and insight

  • Secure knowledge of business and corporate markets
  • Outstanding numeracy and technical skills
  • Excellent communicator with good presentation skills
  • Adept at problem solving, solutions provision, and negotiation
  • Capacity to make quick but rational decisions, thriving in a high-pressured, fast-paced environment

Essential:

  • Working knowledge of SQL Server, Tableau (or Qlikview, PowerBi), Alteryx (or other ETL tools).
  • Ability to manage, analyse and present findings from large volumes of data
  • Previous relevant work experience involving the delivery of data analytics projects to deliver insight
  • Understanding of financial and business drivers and basic accounting concepts
  • Proven analytical skills and systematic problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability working effectively in teams and being working under initiative with timeframes

Desired:

  • Power Query, R and Python
  • Experience in a financial environment
  • Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions
  • Experience in the energy sector would be considered an asset
