The opportunity

Working in a busy finance team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks in the financial department including sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll, P&L analysis and general support to the Management Accountants & Financial Controller.

Purpose of this role is to ensure that all transactions are up to date and accurate and we have our accounting in the correct condition for budgets. Main duties will range from data entry into the system, updating financial records, and processing invoices. You will also support other business areas by preparing cost analysis reports.

What exactly will you do?

  • Be the first point of contact and provide support to the Sales team in correctly invoicing new sales, this includes create, send, and follow up on invoices.
  • Raising invoices when due and sending to customers.
  • Ensure all sales ledger postings are entered in a timely manner for month end.
  • Set up new customers in the system, including management of VAT requirements.
  • Build and manage relationships with new and existing key customers both externally and internally.
  • Oversee and manage the debt processes.
  • Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets and provide Financial Controller with support on reporting KPIs.
  • Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensure all calculations and data entries are correct.
  • Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified.
  • Collect information and prepare payroll payments for employees.
  • Process purchase invoices and payments ensuring they are within budget.
  • Audit internal processes and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.

You may on occasion support other areas within the finance department, which could include; inputting information for payroll, reporting on commissions and helping prepare other financial reports.

What we’re looking for

  • AAT qualifications or working towards (desirable)
  • Work experience as a Finance Assistant, Finance Officer or similar role
  • Experience of working in a large business with an eight-figure turnover
  • Great knowledge of Excel and Excel functions
  • Good knowledge of accounting practices
  • Incredible attention to detail to identify and correct any errors
  • Experienced with numerical work
  • Great organisational skills
  • Holds strong time management skills
  • Ability to follow company policies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
