Job Duties & Responsibilities

As a responsible employer, we’re looking to recruit a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager to drive forward our CSR Strategy and to expand our brand, people, health, and wellbeing teams as well as assisting in maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace.

The CSR Manager will have lead responsibility for Inclusion and Diversity within the Company. Working alongside our Marketing and Brand functions, they will form part of the People Senior Leadership Team. They will help support other departments to ensure that Northern Gas and Power maintains a diverse work force and that our policies, decision making and recruitment strategies appeal to all candidates, regardless of age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and ability.

You will be comfortable implementing solutions to further develop an inclusive work culture that enables all staff to be content, happy and feel included and treated equally.

You will be comfortable developing relationships with external partners, charities, councils, and learning providers.

You’ll know what good looks like and you’ll ensure we are better.

General CSR Responsibilities

  • Developing policies relating to our ethical, sustainable, and environmental responsibilities
  • Ensuring we have a positive impact on local communities and the environment
  • Raising public awareness of our social responsibility commitments through marketing and brand development.
  • Conducting research into best practice – keeping us up to date and current.
  • Writing and actioning our corporate social responsibility strategy
  • Creating partnerships with clients, employees, suppliers, charities, and other groups
  • Ensuring that our policies meet legal and commercial needs
  • Organising events for our colleagues, customers, and partners.
  • Encouraging links between the company and educational or charitable groups
  • Spreading the word in schools and local organisations about the company and our industry
  • Reporting on social responsibility activity to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Leading networking groups and committees
  • Ambassador for Inclusion & Diversity
  • Working with HR and Marketing to develop our people and customer brand
  • Drive the Green Agenda around Carbon Reduction/Woodland Project

Direct Responsibilities D&I

  • Support the evolution of our D&I strategy alignment of the overall People Department.
  • Provide and coordinate D&I practices and policies across the GPG Group to promote opportunities for inclusive best practices, programmes, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with other members of the People Team to ensure DE&I is embedded in all areas of the employee experience.
  • Develop and implement a holistic and comprehensive learning and training strategy creating a common language and behaviour around DE&I.
  • Develop toolkits to assist the business in driving the D&I Agenda.
  • Act as a critical friend and consultant to departments to assist with their inclusion agenda.
  • Build external networks through attending forums, presentations, and meetings.
  • Support the implementation and management of GPG’s wide working groups, providing insight, support, and direction for the group.
  • Develop guidance documentation on key topics to assist our businesses.
  • Providing D&I information to necessary departments to support tenders.
  • Writing, producing, and presenting regular communications on our D&I programs to promote understanding and increase employee engagement.
  • Reviewing the organisations workplace policies and procedures, ensuring that these are all inclusive.
  • Creating innovative ideas in D&I
  • Prepare reports for the Senior Leadership Team and attend meetings as and when required.
  • Supporting and guiding the recruitment team to help create a brand that appeals to diverse applicants and removes bias.
  • Identifying external trends and recognising best practice which will increase diversity among the workforces.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience of driving a CSR and or Inclusion/Diversity agenda
  • Evidence of strong Stakeholder Management
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and present data
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other parts of the business to drive results and outcomes
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Creating and managing communication content (with help of others)
  • Willingness and capability to express opinions openly to achieve the right outcome
  • Ability to take initiative and work within ambiguous situations
  • A knowledge of the current ethical, diversity and implementation policies, strategy, and development plans.
  • Ability to identify skill gaps through data analysis and provide improvement plans to increase performance.
  • Experience in creating and delivering CSR and D&I projects

Additional Comments:

Right to work in the UK documentation required at interview.

A valid UK driving license would be preferred. Some UK and International travel may be required.
